NOSD (New Orleans Salsa Dancers) is an non-profit organization dedicated to building a community in New Orleans via Latin Dance and partner dancing in general. Founded in April 2009, NOSD's mission has been to improve the dance community through instruction, events, volunteering and bring new and innovative ideas to the New Orleans Salsa Scene. NOSD has seen steady growth since its inception and continues to expand its base to increase the salsa knowledge in the Gulf South Region and the surrounding areas. NOSD currently has 24 members and has touched many others with their passion for salsa and dance in general. NOSD has also begun connecting the pre-Katrina salsa community with the post-Katrina salsa community by bringing dancers in who were instrumental in the pre-Katrina community's development. NOSD has hosted three workshop series to date, teaches classes 5 times a week, hosts salsa socials weekly, teaches private lessons and hosts salsa parties at least once a month. NOSD has also taught in various elementary and high schools in the Southeastern LA area. NOSD is constantly learning and improving their teaching methods & dance techniques to better serve the New Orleans area.

Divisions - view the members

1. Founder - Michael Griffin
2. Board Member - Helps to make decisions about classes, events and the overall direction of the organization.
3. Instructor - has gone through the instructor training and can teach techniques for both leading and following from the beginner to intermediate/advanced level.
4. Senior Dancer - Has been dancing for at least a year in our system or demonstrates the necessary proficiency in the style to warrant becoming a senior dancer. May be called upon to assist in teaching and performing IF the need arises
5. Junior Dancer - Members that are still learning the fundamentals of salsa dancing.
6. Instructor Trainee - Member that is going through the instructor training.
7. Administrative - Assists with administrative tasks as necessary.
8. Performance Team - Works on choreographies to perform around the New Orleans area and beyond.
